FAQ

Who is the Utah Golf Guy?

The Utah Golf Guy is an amateur golfer who has lived in Utah for 10 years. Coming out of high school, he was offered two types of athletic scholarships; basketball and golf. After a successful basketball career, the Utah Golf Guy is making up for lost time attempting to play as much golf as possible.

The Utah Golf Guy currently is a 6 handicapper and plays from the farthest back tees (tips) as often as he can. Playing more often, it is expected that his game will be more consistent going forward.

Why Utahgolfguy.com?

The Utah Golf Guy has lived in Utah for over 10 years. He loves the variety and beauty that this state offers. This variety extends to the golf courses as well. Mountain, river, lake, canyon, desert and even red rock are just some of the themes presented by golf courses around the state.

As a fan of variety, the Utah Golf Guy always wanted to play as many different golf courses as possible. Oftentimes, he would hop online to find some reviews or information on different courses he intended to play at. These online searches ensued mixed results:

  1. Review websites were quite vague and limited. 1-2 paragraphs per course was quite commonplace with a very basic and sometimes biased information on the course
  2. Most review sites limit their articles to “the best courses in Utah” and therefore leave their reviews to just 10 golf courses. The same expensive/private courses get the same reviews over and over again with no information on public courses that average golfers actually play
  3. To get a review on most golf courses I had to visit 20 different websites. This was quite time consuming. And then, more often than not, the review was basic, simple and no more than 2 paragraphs long without mentioning individual holes

Enter utahgolfguy.com. This website is a one stop shop to see detailed reviews, rankings, ratings and photos from an unbiased, honest source.

What is the Utah Golf Guy's Mission?

To play, review, rank and rate EVERY golf course in Utah. This includes every upscale private course to the nine hole par 3 course next to Uncle Jed’s farm. According to the Utah Golf Association, this list includes over 110 courses throughout the state in less than 3 years. This will require playing a different golf course once a week during golf season (April – October) and a few trips down to Southern Utah during the winter season.

How often do you update the website?

Usually 3-4 days after I have played a golf course, I will post the full review online with course photos and updated ratings/rankings. To see where I am going next, please follow the upcoming schedule section.

How can you afford to golf so much?

The answer, I can’t. At least not at full prices. I have learned to seek out discounts and deals via websites, passes and daily deals.

In fact, I will be passing on the deals that I find to all Utah Golf Guy readers. Check out all my blogs to see up-to-date deals that are available to the general public or special deals to Utah Golf Guy followers
