Course Summary

Bountiful Ridge Golf Course is located on the east bench of Bountiful. This 18-hole course overlooks the entire Salt Lake Valley and the Great Salt Lake. In additional to the views, the course is stunning with lush vegetation, well-maintained fairways and fun elevation changes for a variety of shots. Wildlife runs wild throughout the course with deer frequently being spotted during the early mornings. Bountiful Ridge has received national and local recognition as one of the best public courses in the state. This course is one of the values in Utah. If you are able to purchase the Davis County Golf Pass, the value is even better!

Water is featured on 6 of the 18 holes, but none are more pronounced or spectacular as the waterfalls behind the 18thgreen. Bunkers are strategically placed throughout the course causing you to be accurate off the tee. The course offers variety, beauty and fun.

Course Conditions

The course was in fantastic shape. Tee boxes were well maintained. Bunkers looked appealing and played fair. Fairways were perfect with a good, healthy green color. Balls sat up nicely and the maintenance crew mowed crisp cutlines separating the fairway and 1st cut of rough. Rough is a little too short for my taste (I like consequences if I don’t drive the fairway) and will give you a decent lie for your approach. Greens are very large inviting 3-putts for less accurate golfers. Greens were in great shape, rolling how you would expect in regards to speed and reads.

Extras

One of the friendliest staffs that I have come across throughout the state. Great attitude, demeanor and patience over the phone. Inside the clubhouse, the staff was extremely helpful and friendly with tremendous knowledge of the course. The clubhouse itself is really nice. From the parking lot, the clubhouse looks good but the view of the clubhouse coming up from #18 is superb. Plenty of room on the inside with a café and large pro shop. The pace of play overall was good. The first 3 holes played a little slow but opened up right after.

This course got a 9.0 rating and that was WITHOUT a driving range. The only bad grade came by way of the practice facilities because of the lack of a range. Fortunately, the practice green is very nice. Large, undulated and with plenty of room to chip from all different angles. You do need to cross the street (use the tunnel) to access as it is next to the #10 tee box.

BEST HOLES

Signature Hole - #18 Par 5 485 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - N/A due to back injury

Without question, the most memorable, beautiful and fun hole on the course. Unfortunately, I was not able to play from tee to green due to a back injury I suffered on hole #16. But, I was able to watch and review those in my threesome (although I did drop a ball from 120 yards out and played from there). The layout of the hole is stunning. A small pond just left of the tee box adds beauty but does not come into play. Fairway looks tight from the tee box but the right side is wide open except for a bundle of trees 325 yards from the tees. Do not miss left as trees line that side of the fairway.

The approach shot is elevated down to the large green. A waterfall starts just right of the green and cascades down the right side of the fairway into a small pond 70 yards short of the green. Behind the hole is another waterfall filled with rocks and vegetation. The clubhouse sits behind the hole, making this hole even more picturesque. A ridge runs across the wide green, creating a tiered putting surface (right side is low; left side is high). Reachable par 5, elevated approach shot, water all around and unparalleled views make this par 5 one of the best in the state.

Clubhouse Pick: 18

Most Beautiful - #4 Par 4 434 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Par

The best tee shot on the course. A forced carry over a grove of trees with beautiful views of the mountains in the distance. Fairway slopes aggressively uphill. From the tee, aim 5-10 yards left of the big willow tree in the middle of your sightline. Slight dogleg left. If you can land on the left side of the fairway you will be in perfect shape, cutting down the distance of the hole and providing a perfect angle for the approach. Elevated approach shot down to this deep green. Green slopes uphill. Two backside bunkers are ready to collect any long shots from golfers not gauging the distance correctly due to the elevation.

Clubhouse Pick: 11

Birdie Time - #1 Par 5 517 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Par

A short par 5 that plays even shorter due to the elevated tee shot. Heavy trees on the left side so error to the right. The fairway slopes down and then back up towards the hole creating a valley short of the green. Fairway is wide but gets narrow around the 150 yard marker. Three bunkers protect the green; two on the front left and one on the front right. Green is extremely deep and bowl-shaped, pushing most shots back to the middle of the green. Fun hole to ease you into the round.

Clubhouse Pick: 1 or 18

Likely Bogey - #9 Par 4 378 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Bogey

One of the only tee boxes that is not elevated on the front nine. Playing only 378 yards, this hole plays a lot longer due to the fairway sloping uphill, a reachable pond on the left side forcing you to layup and an elevated green perched on a hill. A 3-wood or driving iron is the recommended play off the tee but you will need to hit a mid-iron on your approach to reach the uphill, tiered green. Recommended to hit your 250 yard club to the right fairway for best angle on the approach. A waterfall creek runs along the left side with two bunkers wedged in between the green and the creek. Green is three tiered – lowest tier on the front, middle tier in the middle and highest tier on the back right. From tee to green, this is a hole that takes planning and execution. A green in regulation is hard to come by, and if it does, the potential for a 3-putt is always looming on the tough #9.

Clubhouse Pick: 11 or 17

Best Par 3 - #2 198 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Par

Hole 16 was also in the running but due to pulling a muscle in my back on that tee shot, I will give the nod to #2. Elevated tee shot into an extremely wide green. Green is protected by a front right bunker with another bunker directly behind the hole. Water on the left side is beautiful but does not come into play. Beautiful view of the Great Salt Lake in the distance. Simple, beautiful and fun par 3.

Clubhouse Pick: 16

Best Par 4 - #11 415 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Par

Another elevated tee box, another beautiful tee shot. The back tees sit on a ledge perched on a mountain foothill. Mountain on the left side, grove of trees on the right side. Rockwall lines the left side of the tee box (be careful, a member of our threesome was about 2 inches from banging this wall with his driver on the follow thru). Fairway slopes aggressively from left to right making the left side fairway or early rough the perfect landing spot. Slightly elevated approach shot. Two bunkers protect the front sides of the green. Green slopes uphill and from right to left.
