COURSE SUMMARY

Stonebridge Golf Club is one of the few courses in the state offering a 27 hole layout. Creekside, Sunrise and Sagebrush are all unique, beautiful and fun. Situated in a business park section of West Valley City, the course itself is stunning and feels like it doesn’t belong in the location that it was built. Very green and lush grounds with a fun and challenging layout. Various water runs throughout the entire course in terms of streams and ponds.  Undulated fairways and greens bring both beauty and difficulty to this course. The combination of lots of water and heavy winds can wreak havoc for the below average golfer.

The course is named for the red rock bridges that are scattered throughout the course. While West Valley City is not necessarily known as a pretty area, this golf course bucks that trend and is a gem hidden among this industrial park.

The course was in great shape! Most notably, the greens were maintained almost perfectly. No dead spots, severe divots or missed mower spots. They rolled nice and true. The fairways were 95% in perfect shape with a few undergoing some fixes which they nicely roped off. Tee boxes were level and maintained nicely.

The clubhouse is huge with ample space for the pro shop, a full cafe/grill and plenty of space to house a large number of people. The main putting green is humongous and offers a variety of putts. Although quite a bit away from the clubhouse, the driving range is large and high quality.

BEST HOLES

Signature Hole - Sagebrush #9 Par 5 589 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score: Par

Clubhouse Pick: Sunrise 2 or Sunrise 6

A long Par 5 to finish off this 9. Forced carry over water and what appears to be salt flats in front of the tee box and all along the right side from tee to green. The towering clubhouse sits behind the green with a panoramic view of Utah’s majestic mountains. Hugging the right side of the fairway shortens the hole but is also the only danger. YOU CANNOT GO RIGHT ON THE TEE SHOT and even bring the water into play. Plenty of room on the left side, and as a long Par 5, will probably take you 3 shots anyway to reach the green. Aim for the tall, bushy tree in the background and you will be in great shape off the tee. Heavy hurting wind made this hole play 50-60 yards longer than normal.

Two fairway bunkers sit 30 yards short of the green on the left side, collecting any ball of those attempting to reach in two with a runner. A small  British Open style pot bunker sits front and center of the green as well. Green is large, both deep and wide with major undulations.

10 yards short of the green, the water on the right side dips into the fairway for anyone trying to run up their approach on the right side – giving another reason to stay left throughout the entirety of this hole.

Most Beautiful - Sunrise #1 Par 4 430 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score: Par

Clubhouse Pick: Sunrise 2

Absolutely stunning hole – from tee to green but especially at the green and behind it. Hole plays relatively flat from beginning to end but the views are spectacular. Water flows along the entire right side and cuts across the fair 40 yards short of the green. Bunkers line the left side of the green.

Behind the hole is one the iconic red brick bridges that are scattered throughout the course. The view looking from the approach shot features a beautiful stream running across a well maintained green with greenside bunkers on the left side and the sexy bridge in the background.

Birdie Time - Creekside #8 Par 5 498 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Birdie

Clubhouse Pick: Sunrise #2

Not to say there isn’t trouble on this hole but if you can get it in the fairway with a helping wind, you could be hitting a mid-iron to the green with a downhill approach shot. Water runs along the entire left side and 2 fairway bunkers sit on the right. The water spills into the fairway and forces a carry on the approach. The Utah Golf guy averages about 280 yards per drive and with a helping wind he hit it about 320 yards leaving 175 yards to the green. Even if you can’t reach in 2, you can layup to about 130 yards for your approach still giving you a great chance for birdie. Front and right side bunkers protect the green. Green has a large ridge on the back causing a downhill slope from left down to the right. Green is very wide.

Likely Bogey - Sunrise #7 Par 4 441 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Double Bogey

Clubhouse Pick: Sagebrush #3 or Sagebrush #6

Long par 4 with fairway bunkers that pinch into the fairway on both sides. Need an almost perfect drive to land and stay in the fairway. Another fairway bunker/desert land sits on the left side. This area is about 50 yards long and sits next to a pond on the left side of it. Another bunker sits on the left of the green. Green is skinny but deep and is relatively flatter compared to the rest of the course. Need 2 perfect shots to reach the green. Tough hole.

Best Par 3 - Sagebrush #5 168 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Par

Clubhouse Pick: Sunrise #3

A short Par 3 that is fun, beautiful and challenging. A creek runs across the fairway and then up along the left side of the green. Tee shot plays slightly uphill. Greenside bunker on the left side.

Two tiered green – high side on the back and low side in the front. This hole is much more difficult when the pin is in the back left portion of the green. Huge slope from front of the green to the back of the green. Danger everywhere on the drive. The only bail out you have is to the right. Short and left are either water or sand.

Best Par 4 - Sagebrush #4 308 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Birdie

Clubhouse Pick: Sagebrush #4 or Sagebrush #7

A short Par 4, driveable even from the championship tees. Two fairway bunkers pinch in from both sides and a greenside bunker on the left. Green slopes aggressively uphill, from front to the back.

Best Par 5 - Sagebrush #3 617 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Bogey

Clubhouse Pick: Sagebrush #3

A really well setup Par 5. A creek runs across the fairway 200 yards short of the green so smash your drive as far as possible to easily clear the water on your 2nd shot. Long hole that will need 3 shots to get to the green so leave your 3rd shot at a yardage you are comfortable with. Small fairway bunkers on both sides but a HUGE desert sand area on the left side of the hole. Green is extremely deep with a ridge running across the middle creating a second tier.
