Utah Golf Guy
Hi, I am the Utah Golf Guy. As the name suggests, I love everything about the sport. Some people would call it a hobby, a passion or even a side activity. For me, addiction would be the appropriate label. If money, time and weather were non-factors I would truly golf all-day, everyday. As these factors do come into play I choose to be smart and calculating about my golf schedule. My one splurge is an annual activity that my family has done for the last 13 years.
We play 108 holes (54 a day) over a 2 day span. These rounds are spread over at least 4 different courses and truly is the best 2 days of the year.
I moved to Utah over 10 years ago. I have truly enjoyed the diversity and natural beauty that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world. The golf courses are no exception. With so many great courses, it would be an absolute shame for
anyone to isolate themselves to playing the same course over and over again. The purpose of this site is to help the adventurous golfer gain awareness and knowledge of every course in this wonderful state. My ultimate goal is to
personally visit, play and review every single course in Utah (110 courses according to the UGA). These will include every public or private track, from the most upscale in the state to the rinky-dink 9 hole course next to Uncle
Jed’s trout farm.
A new review will be posted to this website at least once a week. These reviews will be highly detailed, ranked and scored according to my 7 categories of a perfect golf course. These categories are: Beauty, Value, Practice Facilities,
Clubhouse, Pace of Play, Course Conditions and the Friendliness of the Staff. Each of these categories would be rated from 1-10 (10 being the best or highest) and then divided by 7 to receive it’s overall score. Difficulty of the
course will be rated as well but will not be included in the overall score. Every course that has been reviewed will be shown under the COURSE REVIEWS section. The Utah Golf Guy will also select the following for each course: Signature
Hole; Most Beautiful Hole; Easiest Birdie Hole; Likely Bogey Hole; Best Par 3; Best Par 4 and Best Par 5
The COURSE RANKINGS section will will show the highest ranked golf courses that have been reviewed along with a ranking of the most difficult courses and the longest courses (yardage). These rankings will be updated after each new weekly review.
The BEST 18 section will list the 18 best holes that have been reviewed so far. After each review this list may or may not change. This list includes (6) Par 3’s; (6) Par 4’s and (6) Par 5’s creating my perfect and ideal round of golf.
The UPCOMING COURSES section will outline the Utah Golf Guy’s golf schedule. What reviews are coming next? What courses are scheduled to be played and reviewed? Feel free to drop me a line if there are any golf courses that you would
like to see reviewed or if you have an extra spot in your 4-some at a private golf course that is difficult to get on. If my schedule allows, I would love to play my next round with you!
Why?
Why did I decide to create this niche website? The answer is simple, I love golf and there is a need. Almost every single golf review website currently out there is lacking in content, quantity and quality. The first page of google
is littered with reviews of the same 10 courses and each review is a quick summary, half-paragraph long. These 10 courses are all too exclusive or too expensive for the average Utah golfer to play and the other 100 courses in the
state get no recognition. While I will review these marquee courses as well, I find just as much satisfaction in reviewing and creating awareness of the hidden gems that are sprawled across this beautiful state.
