Course Summary

Mountain View Golf Course is located in West Jordan, Utah. The course offers views of the Wasatch Mountains on almost every hole. The course itself is not beautiful, but the mountain backdrop helped. The greens and fairways are humongous catering to the beginner golfer. A few lakes are scattered around the course coming into play on a few holes. The course is very flat and is walkable. The flow of the back nine was a little confusing due to the lack of cart paths on the course.

Course Conditions

Fairways played well but had quite a few dead spots. Tee boxes were chewed up but were mowed nicely. The rough was uniform and thin. The sand bunkers were rock hard with little to no sand it them. Greens looked good and rolled nicely. Clubhouse is quite old and small, but functional for this type of course. The staff were cordial on the phone and in the pro shop. Did not see an employee out on the course during the entirety of my round.

BEST HOLES

Signature Hole - #7 Par 4 361 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Par

The majority of the holes at Mountain View are quite vanilla, #7 is an exception. On the tee box is a tall fence/net n the right side followed by tall trees. This hole is a severe dogleg right but due to the trees, you must be able to start your drive in the middle of the fairway and have it fade. No real advantage using driver on this hole so play a long iron that you are comfortable hitting from left to right. Not a lot of danger if you hit through the fairway but an easier angle if you are playing from the short grass.

Only 10 yards of room behind the green so make your approach shot count, or you’ll be in the road. Green is humongous, round and slopes gently uphill. Green is protected by a large bunker on the front left side. Fun, quirky hole.

Clubhouse Pick: #9

Most Beautiful - #16 Par 3 211 Yards

Birdie Time - #10 Par 5 492 Yards

A short par 5 that plays relatively flat. Fairway is narrow but no real danger on either side if you miss hit. Large bunker protects the front right of the green, another bunker protects the left side. Green is slightly elevated on the approach. Green slopes uphill.

Clubhouse Pick: #10

Likely Bogey - #5 Par 5 558 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Bogey

Not often do I pick a Par 5 for the toughest hole but for this one is a monster. Thick trees along the left side will force you to layup on your second shot just to get out. Miss hit is to the right as there is quite a bit of room on that side. Fairway is a slight dogleg right. One of the largest greens on the course is slightly elevated making the hole play a bit longer. Green slopes uphill and is protected by a front right bunker, gobbling up any running shots.

Clubhouse Pick: #16

Best Par 3 - #8 154 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Par

#16 is the best par 3, but already being selected as the most beautiful, we will go with #8. Short par 3 over a creek that should not come into play if you hit it straight. Cart path, creek and sand bunker are all trouble on the left side. Another bunker and a nearby street are trouble on the right. Very little room behind the green. Green is deep and slopes gently uphill.

Clubhouse Pick: #16

Best Par 4 - #7 361 Yards

Best Par 5 - #9 478 Yards

#9 is a short, dogleg left par 5. A pond sits on the right side for shorter hitters who slice their drive. Another pond is further up on the right side, about 120 yards short of the green. Small opening between the two greenside bunkers, so reaching in two will take a precise shot if running up a dribbler or hitting a monster drive to reach the green with some loft. Green is deep and slopes aggressively uphill.

Clubhouse Pick: #9
