COURSE SUMMARY

The Copper Golf Club has been a community fixture for almost 100 years. The staff know all the regulars by name and make you feel like family. For those in and around Magna, this course has a special place in their hearts. This is a nine hole track.

The clubhouse is old and very outdated, especially on the outside. The pro shop opens up when you enter through the entrance doors and there is a nice bar area with lots of seating and large television screens.

The practice facilities are not great. The driving range is extremely tiny and narrow, with a max distance of 175 yards. Mats were out but I also saw divots so I wonder if they are optional? A baseball field sits right next to the driving range, making it feel like an odd place for both attractions. Two practice putting greens, one average size and the other tiny. Both were in terrible shape with dead grass and mounds of dirt surrounding each.

The course itself was also in terrible shape. Weeds overran the entire course; including the tee boxes, fairways, rough and even on some of the greens. Tee boxes were lumpy and uneven. Bunkers were dirt filled with bits of gravel.

The staff often had blue tees as the tips and other holes the whites were laid out as the tips. Very confusing.

The course has some fun holes and has some pretty, visually appealing spots throughout. Unfortunately, the course conditions put a damper on those highlights when you see weeds throughout the entire track. If the course could be cleaned up, it could very well be a nice, average Utah golf course.

While this course can offer some nostalgia and hometown pride for those living close to the area, the UGG would recommend going elsewhere if you have other golf options.

BEST HOLES

Signature Hole - #4 Par 4 418 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Par

Clubhouse Pick: 3 or 4

A fun, dogleg right par 4. Aim for the 150 marker with a little fade will set you up perfectly. There is room in the rough on the right side if you miss the fairway and try and cut the corner. Green has bunkers on the front right and left side. Green is large and slopes uphilll from front to back.

Most Beautiful - #3 Par 4 340 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Bogey

Clubhouse Pick: 3

Beautiful hole with wooded area all along the right side. Mountains in the background with deep heavy trees behind the green. Beautiful hole from tee to green. Fairway is wide and flat. Just keep the ball on the course off the tee and this hole plays easy. Three green side bunkers, two on the left and one on the front right. Green is narrow and deep; sloping aggressively uphill from front to back.

Birdie Time - #7 Par 4 280 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Par

Clubhouse Pick: 3 or 7

Pretty view of a mountain in the background and wooded trees on the right. Hole plays extremely short for a Par 4, at 280 yards from the tips. Bombers can reach the green but two front side bunkers pinch in towards the collar forcing an accurate tee shot. Another bunker sits on the left side. Green is small and slopes uphill. There is a false side on the right. Approach shot is slightly uphill for those who layup.

Likely Bogey - #9 Par 4 409 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Birdie

Clubhouse PIck: 9

The longest par 4 on the course gets the most likely bogey for the average golfer. Hole plays straightforward, straight and flat. Trees on both sides of the fairway. No bunkers or danger around the green. Green slopes gently uphill from front to back.

The UGG waited for the last hole to make his lone birdie of the day. 290 yard drive; approach within 12 feet and a center cup putt was the perfect way to end this round.

Best Par 3 - #8 168 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Par

Clubhouse Pick: 8

Trees all around, little to no danger from tee to green. Green pushes everything to the left if you land in the middle or left. Small green, slopes aggressively uphill and left

Best Par 4 - #5 367 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Par

Clubhouse Pick: 3 or 4

Pretty hole. Short Par 4. Trees on both sides, hole plays to the right (left fairway is perfect angle). Highway sits on the right side of the hole. Trees pinch in on the right side. Green slopes uphill with a ridge running through the middle. A false back and two bunkers; one on each side.

Best Par 5 - #6 503 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Bogey

Clubhouse PIck: 1

Wide fairway, trees line the left side. Swamp and swamp reeds along the right side. Flat from tee to green.. Fright fairway best angle for the approach. Green is large and slopes aggressively uphill. Two small bunkers protect the front left and right side. A ridge sits on the back greeting a huge slope on the backside of the green.
