Course Summary
Eaglewood Golf Course sits upon the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains towering over the Great Salt Lake. Taking a golf cart is highly recommended due to the layout of this hillside course. Elevated tee shots into aggressively sloping fairways mark this track. Although the fairways are relatively narrow, the course plays quite easy from tee to green. The difficulty of this course begins on the greens. Most greens are undulated and two-tiered. Playing with locals, the greens are generally quite fast but during our morning round, the greens were extremely slow. Playing about 70% normal green speed. These greens were tough to read correctly even with the local advice that everything breaks away from the mountains and towards the Great Salt Lake.
The driving range is well-maintained and aesthetically pleasing. This practice range is one of the few that was designed as a dogleg right, allowing you to practice simple fade shots off the tee. The course only has one putting green but it is quite large and undulating allowing you to practice various types of putts and chips. The clubhouse is solid. The staff were cordial on the phone, in the clubhouse and out on the course.
Conditions
The fairways were well cut and maintained on the edges. The ball sat up as expected. The rough was a little scattered with heavy grass in some areas and light stuff just a few yards away. The tee shots on this course are fantastic but the tee boxes were in pretty bad shape. Lumpy, uneven and littered with weeds. The sand bunkers looked and played great. The greens also looked beautiful (despite playing so slow).
BEST HOLES
Signature Hole - #16 Par 5 500 Yards "Mary's Creek"
Utah Golf Guy score - Bogey
If you are able to land your drive in the fairway this green is easily reachable in two. The tee shot must be squeezed between trees but the fairway opens up. The forward portion of the fairway slopes gently uphill and then slopes downhill towards the green. A creek runs along the front left and center of the green with a pond occupying the front right of the green, 40 yards short of it. Two large bunkers line the right side of the green. If you need to layup, the fairway runs out at around the 100 yard mark. The green is extremely deep and slopes from right to left and uphill. A really fun hole that looks tougher than it actually plays. Land your drive in the right fairway, hit enough club to get over the water and chip or 2-putt for birdie.
Clubhouse Pick: 8 or 16
Most Beautiful - #13 Par 4 444 Yards "Lookout"
Utah Golf Guy score - Birdie
The name says it all. A beautiful view from the tee box allows you to see the entire Great Salt Lake to the left and towering mountains to the right. The hole is littered with mature trees and bushes, and the tee shot is one of the most entertaining on the course. The fairway slopes aggressively downhill and doesn’t stop sloping until it hits the green making this hole play much shorter than the yardage shows. Aim just to the right of the 150 marker to be able to cut the corner and shorten the hole even more. If you land anywhere on the fairway, ball will easily roll an additional 20-30 yards. The first fairway runs out about 100 yards from the green followed by a large bunker and then another fairway up to the green. Approach shot plays downhill so gauge your distance correctly. Green slopes uphill from front to back with a slope on the back right side that creates a valley.
Clubhouse Pick: 16
Birdie Time - #18 316 Yards "Fat Chance"
Utah Golf Guy score - Par
This is a fun, quirky hole to finish your round. Long hitters can reach the green off the tee, short hitters will need to layup up short of the two fairway bunkers. The approach shot is uphill. The green is very flat and accepting. Stay out of the bunkers and you will have a great chance at birdie.
Clubhouse Pick: 16
Likely Bogey - #2 Par 4 455 Yards "Off The Wall"
Utah Golf Guy score - Bogey
One of the most beautiful holes on the golf course. This hole was considered for the “Signature Hole”, “Most Beautiful” and “Best Par 4”. It also plays the toughest. The tee box is elevated and the fairway narrows to 27 yards wide at the 150 yard marker. A gentle fade is the preferred play off the tee, starting the shot just to the right of the grove of trees on the left side fairway. This grove of trees will collect tee shots that run off the fairway on that side. Green is slightly downhill for the approach. Green is extremely deep but skinny and slopes uphill and from left to right.
Clubhouse Pick: #2
Best Par 3 - #8 159 Yards "Hangtime"
Utah Golf Guy score - Par
Eaglewood’s strengths are by far the par 4 and par 5 holes, severely lacking on the par 3’s. The lone exception is the beautiful #8 hole, aptly nicknamed “Hangtime”. Water surrounds the entire backside of the green and the tee box sits highly elevated into a downhill green. Green is small and is protected by two left side bunkers. The elevation change calls for one club shorter on the approach. The green slopes severely from left to right and towards the back of the green.
Clubhouse Pick: 8
Best Par 4 - #2 455 Yards "Off The Wall"
Utah Golf Guy score - Bogey

Clubhouse Pick: 2
Best Par 5 - #9 538 Yards "Watery Grave"
Utah Golf Guy score - Par
The only bad thing about this hole? The tee markers were pointing towards the right rough and not the fairway (see the picture). Being my first time playing this course, I’m not sure if this was a one-time mistake or if they are always setup this way. If a golf course employee had not been on the tee box, we would have been playing from the driving range.
Other than that little blip, this hole is fantastic. Aim to the left of the large willow tree on the right side of the fairway and you will have a chance to reach the green in two. The upper fairway ends at the 200 yard marker. The bottom fairway starts at about 160 yards from the green. The area between the two fairways is a downhill, grassy slope. A beautiful pond runs along the left side fairway and all the way to the left side of the green. The green is extremely deep so gauge your distance correctly. Green slopes uphill and towards the lake, from right to left.
Clubhouse Pick: 9
