COURSE SUMMARY

Fore Lakes Golf Course is located in Taylorsville, Utah just 15 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City. The track is made up of two, 9 hole courses; the Executive course and the Par 3 course. The course offers views of the Wasatch Mountains and offers quite a few holes where water comes into play. Other than the water, Fore Lakes is flat, simple and relatively easy to score low.

The practice facilities are fantastic and are recommended for all golfers in the area. Two large practice putting greens give you everything you need to practice your short game. The driving range is separated into two sections, grass and mat only and have plenty of bays for multiple golfers.

The course was generally in good shape, with a few uneven spots around the greens and the bunkers being extremely thin being the only huge complaints. Fairways and greens were overall good but a few holes on both the Par 3 and Executive course were in much worse shape than others.

The views of the course are great, with the majestic mountains towering in the background. No elevation on this course which takes away from some of the beauty but is great for those who want to walk their round.

Staff was a mixed bag in the clubhouse. The first lady that checked me in for the Par 3 course was less than friendly and very impatient with all the groups who were in front of me. After completing my first nine holes, I came back in to check-in for my second nine. The new clubhouse employee was MUCH kinder and was very helpful with all the questions that I had. I hope the latter employee rubs off on the morning staffer.

The biggest knock on this course, it is packed! And the normal crowd for those who play this course is retired couples. It took me over 5 hours to finish my 18 hole round. I asked the couple that was with me if this was normal and they said it was consistently this slow.

BEST HOLES

Signature Hole (Executive) - #5 Par 5 460 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Birdie

A short, dogleg right Par 5. Big hitters can cut the corner on the right but beware that a large lake starts right at that corner. The pond is beautiful and continues about 10 yards from the hole. Those going for the green in two will need to hit over the water. A frontside bunker sits between the water and the green. Green is wide and slopes uphill in the front.

Clubhouse Pick: 5

Signature Hole (Par 3) - #5 165 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Par

Beautiful hole with a forced carry over a pretty lake. Green slopes uphill and is very deep. Not a lot of danger if you can at least clear the water.

Clubhouse Pick: 5

Most Beautiful (Executive) - #2 Par 3 135 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score – Par

Pretty but short Par 3 hitting over a pond. A little landing area short of the green is on the left side. Greens sits just below the tee box. Green slopes aggressively uphill with a large slope on the back left. Must land your approach below the hole or you risk the dreaded 3-putt.

Clubhouse Pick: 1 or 6

Most Beautiful (Par 3) - #6 110 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Par

Shortest hole on the course, with water pinching in on both sides. Green sits below the tee box and green slopes uphill and from left to right.

Clubhouse Pick: 6

Birdie Time (Executive) - #1 Par 4 345 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Par

Short Par 4 that moves slightly to the right. Trees on the right side and the driving range net on the left side. A small fairway bunker on the right and a larger one up on the left. Normal hitters on off the tee can easily cut the corner over the right fairway bunker. Green is protected by a left front bunker. Green slopes uphill with a large ridge on the left side corralling all shots back to the middle.

Clubhouse Pick: 8

Birdie Time (Par 3) - #6 Par 3 110 Yards

Clubhouse Pick: 4

Likely Bogey (Executive) - #7 Par 3 200 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Bogey

A long Par 3 with trees all along the right side of the fairway. Sparse trees on the left. Green is deep and is surrounded by trees in a horseshoe shape.

Clubhouse Pick: 7

Likely Bogey (Par 3) - #9 Par 3 200 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score – Bogey

The longest hole on the Par 3 course. Driving range net lines the entire left side and sparse trees on the right. Green sits just below the tee box. Green is both wide and deep.

Clubhouse Pick: 9

Best Par 3 (Executive) - #2 135 Yards

Clubhouse Pick: 2

Best Par 4 (Executive) #6 340 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Par

Beautiful Par 4 that doglegs slightly to the left. Pond sits on the right of the tee box. A lone fairway bunker on the left side is the target for big hitters to cut the corner. Approach is uphill making this one of the few shots on the course with a few yards of elevation. Green might be the deepest on the course.
