Course Summary
Mick Riley golf course offers two courses, the Executive Course (Par 3 course) and the Regulation course. This review will just cover the Regulation course.
Mick Riley provided three putting greens (no chipping allowed). All are in good shape and differ in sizes. The driving range is solid, with lots of available bays (i counted over 20) but it is irons only as the max is 200 yards. Both the putting greens and driving range are in good condition.
The clubhouse screams municipal golf course at its best. About as average and regular as a clubhouse can get. Decent pro shop, with a large cafe and grill available inside.
The tee boxes were manicured well but it was very rare to find a flat area to tee up the ball. My feet were almost uneven on every single tee shot on the round. Green grass everywhere with little to no dead spots found on the course. Fairways and rough were solid.
BEST HOLES
Signature Hole – #7 Par 4 349 Yards
Utah Golf Guy score – Par
Clubhouse Pick: 3 or 9
Fun and memorable drive with a forced carry over a pond in front of the tee boxes. Hole sits on the right side inviting a slight fade off the tee shot. Green is deep but narrow. A single sand bunker sits on the right side. False back. The rest of the hole slopes uphill from front to back.
Most Beautiful – #8 Par 5 510 Yards
Utah Golf Guy score – Par
Clubhouse Pick: 1 or 8
This hole is beautiful from tee to green. Thick trees line both sides of the fairway through the first ⅓ of the hole. Then hazard meadow lines the next ⅓ on the left side. Appears downhill from tee to green. Bunker on each side of the green. Only trouble is on the drive, with hazard on the left and house properties far to the right. Small green, slopes aggressively uphill from front to back.
Birdie Time – #4 Par 4 317 Yards
Utah Golf Guy score – Birdie
Clubhouse Pick: 4
A short par 4 with heavy trees protruding out on the drive from just off the right of the tee box. Fairway is WIDE open on the left with no danger. Smaller green that slopes uphill. Beautiful view of a mountain top directly behind the green. Single bunker on the left side. Bombers can bomb away as long as they don’t go right.
Likely Bogey – #3 Par 4 450 Yards
Utah Golf Guy score – Bogey
Clubhouse Pick: 3
With these types of courses (muni’s, with very little danger with each hole) the underlying factor for a bogey hole is length. As the longest par 4 on the course, this hole takes the cake. Throw in a dogleg right and a pond on the left, and you have yourself a legitimate bogey opportunity. Big hitters can try and cut the corner on the right or can play a fairway wood and run it up the left fairway. Heavy trees line the left side after the pond. Fairway opens up for the approach shot. No danger anywhere near the green so just get it into play and long on your drive or you will have a tough, long approach. Green has a ridge that runs through the middle. Greenside bunker sits on the back left and is completely hidden on the approach.
Best Par 3 – #2 191 Yards
Utah Golf Guy score – Bogey
Clubhouse Pick: 2
Elevated tee box overlooks the green. No danger on either side. One bunker on the front right. Teebox is EXTREMELY slanted, forcing an awkward stance. Bunker is much deeper than it appears. Green is deep. Slopes downhill from left to right with a false back. This slope will not hold the green if you hit it too far.
