COURSE SUMMARY

Schneiter’s Riverside Golf Course in an 18-hole track in Riverdale, Utah. The course was opened in 1961, which have allowed the trees and vegetation to mature. Unfortunately, due to a severe windstorm in 2020, a few of these trees were destroyed and the course is in the process of planting some younger trees. The grounds crew has done a tremendous job on this course, as the fairways, rough and greens were all in good shape. The tee boxes were mostly uneven, especially from the back tees, but were overall in good shape.

The course is short and relatively easy, with a couple of difficult holes sprinkled in. Not a lot of elevation changes on this course but enough to provide some variety. For the casual golfer, this course is highly recommended.

Specifics

The clubhouse was a little outdated but is quite spacious on the inside. The staff was extremely friendly including the pro shop staff, the owner and even the cafe cook.

The practice facilities are great, with two large putting greens next to the clubhouse. The driving range is adequate but is mats only. A course like this needs a practice chipping green with a sand bunker though. This course caters to older golfers and the amenities need to fit this demographic.

BEST HOLES

Signature Hole - #17 Par 5 490 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Bogey

A beautiful par 5 that would be better suited as Riverside’s finishing hole. Two sets of ponds line the entire left side of the hole; the pond on the right will only come into play on the 2nd and potentially 3rd shot. A pair of fairway bunkers lie on the right side. The second shot will require some strategy and guts if going for the green in two. Due to the pond on the right, the second shot will be a forced carry over this water. Deciding whether to go for it or not will depend on where the drive ends up. 110 yards from the green, the fairway plays extremely tight with water on both sides. This will require a precision shot if deciding to layup. Green is deep in the front and gets shallow in the back. Slopes aggressively uphill with a separate shelf on the back right.

Clubhouse Pick: #17

Most Beautiful - #10 Par 4 276 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Par

Trees line both sides of the fairway on this beautiful and short Par 4. Layup to the right side of the fairway and leave yourself about 90 yards to the center of the green. Anything less and you may have trees in your shot line from the left. Go too far and you may run through the fairway. Approach is downhill to a picturesque view of mountains, trees and water behind the hole. Green is protected by two bunkers on the right side. Green slopes aggressively uphill in the front and has a mound on the back right. Try and land your approach short of the hole, leaving yourself an uphill shot at birdie.

Clubhouse Pick: 7

Birdie Time - #2 Par 4 248 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Birdie

Arguably, the most unique hole on the course. Those that are accurate with long irons or their fairway woods will have a great chance for birdie here. A large mound is found 60 yards short of the green on the right fairway. From the mound, the fairway slopes down and then back up towards the green. The most unique feature on this hole are the greenside bunkers. The first, is large and horseshoe shaped, located 10 yards to the front right of the green. The second is not as large, but is still pretty impressive. This is on the front left of the green. The green has a small false front and is undulated throughout. Land it on or just off the green, then two putt for your birdie.

Clubhouse Pick: 2

Likely Bogey - #7 Par 4 465 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Bogey

A small pond sits between the back tees and the forward tees. Trees line both sides of the fairway. The green is tucked into the right side with full, overhanging branches on the right side. To stay out of tree trouble, the drive must land on the left side of the fairway. Approach is uphill to a very undulated green. Green is deep and has a false front. Bunkers sits on the left side of the green.

Clubhouse PIck: 3

Best Par 3 - #3 153 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Par

The best Par 3 on the course is also potentially the most dangerous. DO NOT GO LEFT. OB all along the left side. Green is extremely narrow and deep so accuracy is a must if you want to stay on the putting surface. Greenside bunker on the right side. Green is slightly below the tee box and slopes aggressively uphill.

Clubhouse Pick: 8

Best Par 4 - #16 411 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Birdie

One of the longer Par 4’s on the course. A thick grove of trees lines the landing area on the right side of the fairway and a huge fairway bunker is on the left. Fairway moves slightly to the right so a baby fade is the perfect play off the tee. Green is deep but relatively flat.

Clubhouse Pick: 16

Best Par 5 - #17 490 Yards
