Course Summary

From the Barn Golf Club website: “Located just 2 miles East of I-15 at exit 349. The Barn Golf Club is privately owned and family-operated golf course located in the foothills of the majestic Ben Lomond peak. Featuring 18 beautiful golf holes along with 2 practice greens, a driving range and a full-service snack bar.”

The Barn Golf Club is just plain quirky and a whole lotta fun. Upon driving up to the course, the first thing you notice  is a large, outdated and funky shaped barn with an electronic sign welcoming you to The Barn. This barn used to be an old pub but is unfortunately not in operation right now. Next to the barn is an area for private events with a little courtyard in the middle. The last building is the actual clubhouse. This building is quite small but has everything you need along with a separate grill for simple food and snacks.

The Barn is very flat but still plays quite beautiful with the mountains in the background and charming ponds strewn across quite a few holes. The trees are large and mature, bringing a lot of peace and quietness to the track. Not overly difficult, this course allows you to score low if you can stay out of the trees.

Specifics

The practice facilities are decent, with a putting green with some serious slope to practice a wide variation of putts and chips. The driving range is small, only giving you a few bays to hit from and is quite narrow and shallow, taking driver off the table for big hitters. This range is mats only as well.

The course conditions were great. A few uneven tee boxes but the majority were mowed and maintained as expected. The fairways and greens both looked and played great. The rough was even but played a little too easy, not penalizing wayward drives off the tee. The staff should be proud of how they have maintained The Barn Golf Club.

BEST HOLES

Signature Hole - #18 Par 5 520 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Bogey

Beautiful finishing hole. Water on both sides of the fairway with the hole playing dogleg left. Fairway is wide. Trees line the left side of the fairway, past the pond so hitting from the left fairway will provide a blnd 2nd shot to the green. Right fairway is best. Green is small and slopes gently uphill from front to back. Right side bunker.

Clubhouse Pick: 1 or 7

Most Beautiful - #8 Par 3 175 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Bogey

Beautiful Par 3 with a pretty pond on the right and houses on the left. Tee and green about even, maybe laying 2-3 yards downhill. Green is deeper than it appears from the tee and slopes uphill. Pond is crystal clear and mountains create a stunning backdrop.

Clubhouse Pick: 1 or 18

Birdie Time - #15 Par 5 511 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Par

The only tee box with any significant elevation. Houses line the left side of the hole with a large net protecting them. The hole leans slightly to the left but right fairway still gives you the best angle to reach in two. Green is deep and slopes uphill.

Clubhouse Pick: 6 or 9 or 15

Likely Bogey - #5 Par 4 435 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Par

To be honest, there really is no extremely difficult hole on this course. So, by default, I will give this award to the longest Par 4. There is out of bounds on the left, so keep your ball in play off the tee. Green is small and slopes aggressively throughout.

Clubhouse Pick: 5

Best Par 3 - #10 187 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Birdie

Another great Par 3 with thick trees lining both sides of the fairway. These trees are tall and have overhanging branches that could potentially come into play on a lofted tee shot from the back tees. Different trees line the backside of this extremely deep green. A small mound on the left side of the green will push any shots to the center of the green.

Clubhouse Pick: 8

Best Par 4 - #2 355 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Bogey

Fun, beautiful and short Par 4. A large pond sits on the entire right side of the fairway. The hole plays dogleg right so laying up is the only option. Left fairway will give you the best angle for your approach giving you a good view of the green. Leave yourself no less than 125 yards for your 2nd shot. A small creek runs across the fairway 10 yards shorts of the green. Green has a false front. Green is deep and has a second tier on the backside so gauge your distance correctly.

Clubhouse Pick: 16

Best Par 5 - #3 521 Yards

Utah Golf Guy score - Bogey

My runner up for the signature hole. This hole has everything the Utah Golf likes. Fairway starts going to the right and then doglegs to the left. Trees line the entirety of the left side which will cause problems if hitting from that side, even on the fairway. To even have a shot at reaching in two, you will need to hit a bomb on the right side of the fairway. Hitting from the left side will leave you with a blind shot over tall trees. 50 yards short of the green is a pond. Just to the right of this pond is one of the few sand bunkers on the course. Green is extremely deep and slopes uphill. It also has a bunker protecting the front left of this green. Green has a false side on the left.

Clubhouse Pick: 1 or 18
